Painted Drawing
My painted drawings are produced as follows:- ……..
(1) Using a light colored pastel’s very roughly map out the image using the flat edge of the pastel. This gives me overall proportions and general composition …….
(2) Using a darker pastel this time on it’s edge to create lines, I roughly draw up the image avoiding detail but fixing the image(proportions composition) into the space(surface) ……..
(3) Lightly rub over whole drawing lightly with fingers (mixing pastels) …….
(4) Using dark pastel draw up carefully making adjustments and adding detail ……
(5) Place drawing flat on floor, for this drawing I used a piece of decorative curtain netting and after protecting main features of the drawing lightly sprayed color paint(oil based) over drawing leaving patterned imprint over drawing. This process cannot be planned and is a matter of trial and error ………
(6) Set up the drawing (painting) on an easel and vigorously rub over with a pastel impregnated cloth and with an eraser highlight the drawing …….
(7) and finally touch up with dark pastel or oil pencil …….. |
